Maintenance I Job Position

Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of Maintenance I with the City of Exeter. We are currently accepting applications for this essential Public Works role.

The Maintenance I position, under general supervision, performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled, and occasionally skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and improvement of City streets, parks, and utility systems. This position supports the Public Works Department in maintaining critical infrastructure and providing services to the Exeter community.

This position may perform work related to:

Street maintenance, including curbs, gutters, drainage facilities, signage, and traffic markings
Routine maintenance and repair of City water, sewer, and storm drain systems
Park maintenance and general upkeep of public facilities
Assisting with concrete work, pothole patching, and street repairs
Operating equipment such as tractors, sweepers, backhoes, and jackhammers
Assisting with water pipe repairs and occasional meter reading

Work is primarily performed outdoors and requires the ability to perform heavy manual labor in varying weather conditions.

Salary

The monthly salary range for this position is: $3,610 – $4,388 per month

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess a high school diploma or GED. Qualifying maintenance or public works experience may be substituted for education on a year-to-year basis.

The position requires:

A valid Driver’s License
Ability to learn and perform a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled maintenance tasks
Ability to safely use hand and power tools
Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work effectively with others
