The City of Exeter is accepting applications from qualified residents interested in being considered for appointment to the City Council District A seat in lieu of election pursuant to California Elections Code Section 10229.
Application Deadline
Monday, August 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
The City Council is scheduled to consider the appointment at a Special City Council Meeting on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
Who May Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be a registered voter;
- Reside within City Council District A in the City of Exeter; and
- Meet all qualifications to hold elective office under California law.
Residents who are unsure whether they live within District A should review the District Map included with the application or contact the City Clerk’s Office for assistance.
How to Apply
Complete the District A City Council Appointment Application and submit it no later than 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Applicants may also submit a resume, letter of interest, or other materials they would like the City Council to consider. These supporting materials are optional.
Form 700 Requirement
Applicants are not required to file a Form 700 when submitting the application.
By submitting an application, applicants agree that, if selected for appointment by the City Council, they will electronically file a Statement of Economic Interests (FPPC Form 700) through the City’s eDisclosure system no later than 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
